- Medication – Some patients may benefit from ketamine lozenges, which Dr. Mandel prescribes to be taken from the comfort of your own home. Lozenges are used in addition to IV infusions, not instead of. They are not enough to significantly combat depression on their own, but have been very effective at extending the benefits our patients get from their infusions. While they are not for everyone, they can allow patients many months of relief before they return for follow up or booster infusions, which are administered on an as-needed basis and generally consist of 1-2 infusions several days apart.
